Bosnia is an ideal location to invest in; lying in the very heart of Southern Europe on the crossroads between Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa with numerous opportunities in various sectors.
Also being a member of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) allows for free access to a consumer market with 50 million people. Furthermore, B&H also has a free trade agreement with Turkey, and a generalized system of preferences with the: European Union, USA, Switzerland, Norway, Japan, and New Zealand. Also BiH has a preferential export scheme with Iran. Consequently, starting a business in B&H allows for an opportunity of exporting to a market of over 600 million people without having to pay any customs duties.
The main goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina is EU membership; B&H has already signed the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), establishing formal contractual relations between the EU and BiH. Therefore, until SAA is complete and looked over by all EU member states, the Interim Trade Agreement with EU is in place.
Constant growth of foreign direct investment (FDI) indicates a favorable business environment for foreign investors and businessmen. The Council of Ministers of B&H has established the Foreign Investors Support Fund as a financial incentive for foreign investors.
